‘Fall’ for Northumberland

Drone images in fall, Grafton areaFall in Northumberland is made for exploring – stunning fall colours and cooler days are the perfect backdrop for discovering what makes the season special.

Plan an overnight adventure with a stay at one of Northumberland’s welcoming accommodations. Grafton Village Inn offers a boutique experience with spa add-ons, while Whispering Springs pairs luxury A-frame cabins with a thermal spa area and hiking trails. Fells Meadows offers farmhouse stays with access to scenic trails, and Sunset Retreat on Rice Lake’s lakeside cabins are available year-round.

Set out on a fall-colour drive through Northumberland County. Follow a route north through the Municipality of Port Hope, along Rice Lake, through Trent Hills and south to the Municipality of Brighton. With more than 2,000 square kilometres to explore, there’s plenty of opportunity to find your favourite view. Stop in small towns to browse local shops, enjoy a treat from a café or settle in for a meal at a locally owned restaurant.

Travelling with your dog? Look for the bright blue sticker in shop windows, identifying businesses that welcome on-leash dogs inside. Many restaurant patios are dog-friendly, too. At The Dockside Bistro in Campbellford, you can select a meal from the Doggy Menu for your pup to enjoy.

Try something new this fall. Hike a familiar trail from a different direction, explore a new cycling route, pick the perfect pumpkin or a bushel basket of apples. For a restorative experience, visit Water + Wood in Campbellford for a riverside ice bath and sauna.
