The Art of the Lakeside Escape: Where Architecture Compliments Landscape

In Central Ontario’s Cottage Country, a home is more than a structure, it’s where weekends stretch into summers, where the lake becomes part of the daily rhythm, and where family, friends and generations come together. That lifestyle demands a different approach to building, and Four Points Construction has made that approach its specialty.

For over a decade Four Points Construction has been transforming dreams of the ultimate lakeside escape, into architectural reality.

Founded in 2013 by Tim Fosbery and Matthew Moore, Four Points Construction is a Lakefield-based builder serving Peterborough and the Kawarthas. With a reputation built on craftsmanship, transparency and attention to detail, the company brings a distinctly personal approach to custom residential construction; one that recognizes that a luxury cottage is not simply a collection of high-end finishes, but an expression of how its owners want to live.

Four Points Construction, and their team of highly skilled trades offer the peace of mind that only true hometown experts can deliver. They understand that your home or cottage is more than a structure; it is a canvas for generation-defining memories, framed by the wind-swept pines and granite shores of Cottage Country.

The company was born from a shared passion for uncompromising craftsmanship when founders Tim Fosbery and Matthew Moore crossed paths on a custom waterfront build. Recognizing a rare alignment in their standards, they paired up to establish a signature benchmark for elite builds in the Kawarthas.

Tim Fosbery brings decades of refined construction intelligence to the partnership, having launched his career after graduating from Fleming College. Tim spent time mastering high-end custom renovations in prestigious enclaves like Toronto’s Leaside. Growing up in Toronto, Tim would spend summers at the family cottage on Lower Buckhorn Lake.

Matthew Moore, grew up in Lakefield and has a deep-rooted understanding of local community dynamics and the lifestyle of the Kawathas. His lived experience allows him to understand the impact lake-lifestyle has on how we enjoy our homes and cottages. Matt has extensive experience with custom builds, having worked for Linwood Homes early in his career, he was able to refine his skills and attention to every finished detail, which now ensures even the smallest jobs are done with precision.

Together Matt & Tim have created a team that understands that luxury in Central Ontario isn’t necessarily about building extravagance, it’s about creating a property that makes  life easier, more beautiful and more enjoyable.

What elevates Four Points Construction in their industry is how they expertly balance the rustic, tactile charm of traditional timber frame accents with modern, steel-boned structural engineering. Many of their lakeside builds favour expansive glass walls that seamlessly blend the boundary between a sophisticated interior, and a panoramic lake view.

Four Points full-service philosophy encompasses custom homes and cottages, renovations and additions, custom boathouses and bunkies, garages, commercial construction, general contracting, excavation, project management, decks and outdoor spaces, landscaping, painting and finishing, site planning and architectural drawings. The company also offers a comprehensive design-and-build process, guiding clients from early vision and site planning through permitting, construction and final landscaping. They believe that the architecture, landscape and lifestyle of each client and build must go together cohesively. That suggests their value isn’t simply putting up a beautiful building; it’s figuring out how to make the entire project work.

The Kawarthas serves us the rugged, ancient topography of the Canadian Shield and Four Points Construction works hard to build structures that compliment their iconic surroundings. Four Points Construction isn’t simply building houses in the Kawarthas; they’re helping create the backdrop for a way of life, one shaped by water, nature, entertaining, relaxation and time well spent; and that may be the greatest luxury of all.
