Women’s Range Day

Brings Confidence, Community & New Skills to 33 Participants

What happens when 33 women from across Ontario come together for a day of learning, laughter, and trying something new? At Just 1’s annual Women’s Range Day, the answer was simple: confidence grows, friendships form, and barriers are broken.

Held in a welcoming and supportive environment at East Grey Hunters and Anglers in Meaford, Ontario, this year’s event welcomed women and girls of all experience levels—from complete beginners to those looking to build on their existing shooting skills. Participants traveled from communities including Whitby, Oshawa, Waterloo, Owen Sound, and beyond to spend the day learning from experienced instructors and mentors.

The event featured multiple hands-on stations designed to introduce participants to a variety of outdoor and shooting sports. Tara led the archery range, helping participants develop their skills with a bow, while Candace coached attendees through trap shooting, turning nervous first-timers into confident shooters. Throughout the day, Rae captured the excitement, stories, and memories behind the scenes.

Behind the scenes, the Just Hunt team worked tirelessly to ensure every detail was covered—from registration and scheduling to safety briefings, equipment preparation, ammunition management, photography, and content creation. The goal was simple: make sure every participant felt welcome, supported, and empowered.

One of the most memorable aspects of the day was the diversity of attendees. Eight mother-daughter pairs participated together, with the youngest attendee being just 11 years old. Throughout the day, women encouraged one another, celebrated personal milestones, and stepped outside their comfort zones.

While marksmanship and skill development were key components, the true focus of Women’s Range Day was building confidence and creating opportunities for women to experience the outdoors in a safe and supportive setting.

As the final shots were fired and equipment was packed away, the Just Hunt team wrapped up the day with a little friendly competition of their own—a fitting end to a day filled with camaraderie, laughter, and shared experiences.

For many participants, the day wasn’t simply about learning to shoot. It was about discovering confidence, connecting with like-minded women, and realizing they were capable of more than they imagined.
