Step Back in Time at Kawartha Settlers’ Village

Nestled in the heart of Bobcaygeon, Kawartha Settlers’ Village offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the stories, traditions, and everyday life that helped shape the Kawartha Lakes region. Set across beautiful grounds and home to more than 20 historic buildings, the Village preserves the rich heritage of our community through immersive exhibits, historic structures, and engaging seasonal programming.

Open daily from May through September, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Kawartha Settlers’ Village invites visitors of all ages to explore at their own pace. Wander through a one-room schoolhouse, church, general store, barn, fire hall, and historic homes while discovering the stories of the pioneers, families, and businesses that helped build our region.

Summer is an especially vibrant time at the Village. Every Wednesday and Thursday throughout July and August, visitors can experience the popular Working Village program, where skilled volunteers bring history to life through demonstrations of traditional trades and crafts. Watch blacksmiths at work, see quilters and artisans share their skills, and discover the techniques that shaped daily life in generations past.

Wednesday evenings in July and August also feature Movies in the Barn, a beloved community tradition that invites families to enjoy classic and family-friendly films in a truly unique historic setting.

As the seasons change, one of the Village’s most cherished events returns: the Kawartha Lakes Festival of Trees, taking place November 13–15, 2026. This beloved holiday tradition transforms the Village into a festive wonderland filled with beautifully decorated trees, seasonal displays, family activities, and holiday cheer. For many local families, it has become an annual tradition and a memorable way to kick off the holiday season.
