Kick Off the Start of Summer with the Kawartha Chamber
Summer in the Kawarthas is one of our favourite times of the year – the area is bustling with visitors and residents alike and there are so many great events taking place! Before we get in summer mode, we have two great events planned. You won’t want to miss them – they’re the last events we have planned until September. During July & August, we support community events in the area – connecting with our members and the community, and strengthening tourism in the Kawarthas.
The first event we have planned in May is a Business Owners Sharing Solutions (B.O.S.S) panel discussion on Cyber Security. The event is on Wednesday, May 15th at Beachwood Resort (3043 Beachwood Drive) from 7:30-9:00am. At the start of the year, we asked our members which professional development topics they would like to see our B.O.S.S panels discuss, and one of the most popular topics was cyber security. With cybercrime emerging as a big threat to small business, it’ll be a great session for small business owners to attend, both Chamber Members and non-Chamber Members alike. Our panel will focus on cyber security concerns specific to small business, such as website security, email and telephone scams, and online banking security.
Then, to kick off the start of summer, we’re hosting a Business After Hours: Stoney Lake Boat Cruise with Stoney Lake Cruises (610 Mt. Julian-Viamede Road) in June! The cruise is on Thursday, June 20th from 5-7pm. Refreshments will be provided by Burleigh Falls Inn. We begin boarding at 4:30pm. The boat departs at 5:00pm sharp.
