Turtle Watch

All eight of Ontario’s Turtle species are suffering major population declines. And a major reason they all are on the At Risk list is that they get run over on the province’s roads at an alarming rate.

Our shell-backed friends can’t get out of the way of a fast-moving vehicle quickly so PLEASE, keep a special watch on the roads for turtles from May to October.

And if you do see an injured turtle on the road, please call the hotline of the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre at

705-741-5000. The hotline is open every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

At the same time, please think about making a donation to help us protect the declining numbers of turtles. Donations can be made to the OTCC at https://ontarioturtle.ca/donate

Or perhaps you would like to volunteer to help us deliver some TLC to our turtles?
