Memories of a Lifetime

As far back as I can remember I get anxious with the anticipation of a new fishing season. From the very first sunfish I caught off the bridge my grandfather Wellington built at our cabin on Fox Island, to  looking forward to fishing Spring crappie with my kids –  it has always brought me the  excitement of a child on Christmas morning. Always wondering what awaits me, what fish I will catch? What memories will be made? What new friends I will meet? 

Maybe this year my partner Duane Jacobs and I can return as CSFL Team of the Year and Classic Champs; or maybe this is the year Josh Westerink and I can combine the most fun on the water with winning the FLW Canadian Championship.

I say this every year, but I don’t think I have ever been more excited for a season to begin.  I have been very fortunate with help from family and friends to be able to fulfill two lifelong dreams; owning my own fishing guide business, Williams Outfitters and becoming a successful tournament angler. Over the last couple of seasons it seems like all of this hard work and dedication is paying off.  I have been blessed to have people come into my life who believe in me enough to graciously offer help in the way of sponsorships.  What started with a chance meeting on Stoney Lake with a friend from school – Deborah (Paris) Lineberry, has turned into a great partnership, and started the ball rolling for me.  Being sponsored by Paris Marine has led to other prominent fishing companies coming on board.  I went from running an old boat, to a new deal with Crestliner, and am now running the new PT20 fully loaded with Power-Poles and the latest Garmin electronics. This also led me here to Cottage Country Magazine, writing an article and promoting my company. This offseason I was also lucky enough to hook up with Daiwa, Kistler Rods and Livingston Lures, and I look forward to promoting all of my sponsors every chance I get through tournaments, shows,  and guiding clients.
